Enhancing the Guest Experience with Multimedia Services
Creating a rewarding guest experience is the key to driving incremental demand and improving guest retention to generate higher occupancy rates. By leveraging IP and available multimedia technologies hoteliers can create an enhanced multimedia experience network that delivers second-to-none, technology-enabled, personalized services. Hotel operators who have not migrated to IP can create an IP-like network by optimizing existing copper and coaxial cabling investments. This can be achieved by introducing advanced, IP-based switching and routing platforms into an existing network to provide the required functionality. By optimizing existing network investments in this way, hotel operators can easily deliver advanced, IP-based, multimedia services in-room and on-premises to create a more personalized service experience that delivers tangible strategic and business benefits.

Interoperable Mission Critical Broadband/Narrowband for Public Safety Communications
In creating the Shared Wireless Broadband Network in August 2007, the FCC recognized that the communication needs of public safety had grown to include interoperable broadband as well as narrowband services. Further work in 2009 by the FCC, the Public Safety Spectrum Trust (PSST), the National Public Safety Telecommunications Committee (NPSTC), DHS/SAFECOM accelerated the goal of creating a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network utilizing 3GPP’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. This paper will discuss how Alcatel-Lucent and EADS have joined together to develop a comprehensive end-to-end broadband and narrowband solution utilizing Long Term Evolution and Project 25 (P25) technologies for the public safety 700 MHz spectrum, providing local, state and federal agencies with a harmonized standards-based communications solution.

The Application Fluent Network - Delivering a High-Quality User Experience
For the first time in history, the demand for bandwidth will exceed the economical capacity of the next generation of network switching equipment. The time-tested solution of adding more and more raw bandwidth will not work. What’s needed is a new resilient network architecture that minimizes latency by allocating bandwidth selectively to specific applications, ensuring a high-quality user
experience for real-time applications. This network also needs to be far easier to manage and maintain
than legacy networks, freeing IT staff from the day-to-day struggle to deliver acceptable levels of application performance to users.
