Rzeszow University invests in Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise technology to provide campus-wide communications
Politechnika Rzeszowska, one of the largest public technical universities in south-east Poland, has selected Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise technology to improve cross-campus communication. Working with Alcatel-Lucent and Innergo Systems, the new solution facilitates communication across the campus, providing network access to the newly built teaching and conference library and administration centre for 2,500 users.
The solution provides a number of benefits including more cost-efficient calls, a more secure network, as well as increased performance and stability of the network. It also eliminates paper-based documents and provides access to communication services away from the campus.
The new capabilities – built around the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise Communications Server and the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Unified Communcations solution – provide conferencing, collaboration and document sharing along with integration of mobile devices. Smartphones can integrate into the network via the new cellular extensions using any browser, in any location. It also features a user-friendly interface that detects whether a user is active and available, and supports a variety of functions including unscheduled and scheduled events, instant messaging (IM), application and desktop sharing, a click-to-conference option, document management and integrated video conferencing.
Innergo Systems is an Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Premium Business Partner and systems integrator operating in the telecommunication and IT sector. The company designs, deploys and maintains advanced voice and data transmission solutions, video conference services and data centre environments.
Bogusław Tatara, IT Manager, Politechnika Rzeszowska: “The deployed solutions significantly improve communications on campus, and have eliminated paper-based faxes. Performance, security and stability of the entire system was also improved, including configuration and management. Overall, the system has become more intuitive.”
Rafal Fazan, Country Manager, Poland, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise: “We are delighted to have our technology chosen by Politechnika Rzeszowska, the largest public technical university in South Poland. This implementation further demonstrates our strength in providing solutions for the education sector, one that is particularly keen to embrace the latest technologies as students become consumers and expect more value for money.”
