SMBs More Collaborative With Latest OpenTouch Suite for SMB

OpenTouch, BYOD Environment

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise today announced it is strengthening its portfolio, via its Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch™ Suite for SMB, to help small and medium-sized businesses grow. As SMBs look to cut inefficiencies, especially in the area of communications, the latest Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch Suite for SMB delivers the technologies they need for better business outcomes.

New features – such as simplifying SIP and BYOD solutions, extending mobile device range, enhancing embedded unified communications and a more flexible cloud approach – offer both SMBs and channel partners the opportunity to implement advanced communications that make sense for the needs of the SMB.

As a foundation, the OmniPCX Office RCE Release 10 communication server acts as an all-in-one, end-to-end converged solution for voice and data, with a plug-and-play deployment capability. The new PowerCPU Extended Edition eliminates the need for a hard disk, delivering the next level of reliability. With OmniPCX Office RCE Release 10, SIP deployment and public trunking become a turnkey solution, saving costs for both channel partners and customers while removing the need for a costly Session Border Controller. The SIP profile within OmniPCX Office RCE removes deployment complexities by simply loading qualified SIP carriers.

Additionally, new collaborative functionalities within the OmniPCX Office RCE communication server provides consistency across applications and Premium DeskPhones. These features represent an all-in-one, embedded, essential unified communications foundation. This release also provides multi-device, user centric Unified Instant Messaging. Conversation and history tracking are accessible on Premium DeskPhones through the web-based application My IC Web for Office and on OpenTouch Conversation mobile applications.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) remains a key trend for SMBs. OpenTouch Conversation mobility solutions operate with the latest standards, with iOS 8 support and Android 4.4. New interfaces have a fresh design and help employees respond more quickly to any internal or external communication requests.

Day-to-day communication activities are made easier for the internal mobile workforce with the extended range high-end business 8242 DECT handset. Its large color screen with crystal-clear readability, HD audio-ready technology for superior sound quality, and USB connectivity offer a solid, reliable communications tool. Notification and location capabilities plus a one button alarm function address industry markets such as hospitality.

OpenTouch Office Cloud, based on the industry-acclaimed OmniPCX Office RCE R10, creates an opportunity for channel partners and customers to use advanced professional communications via the cloud. OpenTouch Office Cloud gives customers new flexibility to pay for only what they need in terms of IP trunks and licenses. The channel partner can manage and serve customers as their needs change.

Michael Marchioni, Icon Cloud Solutions, a Value Added Distributor for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise said, “Technology has advanced and today’s small and medium-sized businesses who want the best that communications has to offer without the large investment cost. Delivering to SMBs a communications system via the cloud, with the best features and based on their requirements, is what Icon is able to do with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. From mobility, to computing and apps, to visual communications, we help SMBs stay connected to their customers and their business.”

John Caubo, SMB Product Manager at Proximus, a carrier-partner for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise said, “Proximus rejoined the SMB program in 2014 since the OmniPCX Office RCE R9.2 was perfectly positioned to meet Proximus’ ambition to bring the latest enhancements in Unified Communication and Collaboration to the Belgian SMB market.  The SMB Partner Days in October, held in Paris, reconfirmed for Proximus that the upcoming release 10 is bringing unified communication to the next level in the SMB market and thus setting the standards for years to come.”

Eric Penisson, General Manager, Communications business at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise said, “This update brings SMBs three main areas to gain positive business outcomes: In our enhanced user experience to increase productivity, via a continuous technology transformation and with our ability to support all business models with our cloud of on-premise offers. SMBs want the same opportunities as mid- and large-sized companies to run their business efficiently. With new features to collaborate, be more mobile, offer more apps and maximize performance, Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office RCE makes SMBs feel like they can generate the same opportunities as a large company.”
